Opportunity to Defeat Doubt

Do you live free in God’s truth, or do you struggle with doubt? Maybe you’re like me and ebb and flow between them. I know this will happen in my human flesh, so I seize the opportunity in every new day to defeat doubt and live free in truth.

New Day = New Opportunity

What was the first thought on your mind after you woke this morning?  Mine was “it’s a beautiful new day, with new mercies not only for myself but for everyone.”  Then I marveled at the opportunity that came in the new day. This was my first attempt at defeating doubt.

Then I received a daily scripture verse suggested by YouVersion, but decided to read the entire chapter. It was the story about The Death of Lazarus. While reading it, I began to struggle with doubt.

Something I’ve come to understand in my walk is that no matter how strong I am (or feel) in my faith, doubt can enter my mind at any second. Even when I’m praying or when I’m ministering. Even when I’m reading stories in the Bible about a resurrection.

I found myself comparing science and worldviews with the Bible. There is no scientific proof that resurrection has occurred, so it’s normal in the flesh to doubt it. But it feels wrong to do so as a Christian, and in my moment of struggle, I found opportunity. Opportunity to seek and address God personally on the matter.

Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Seek and Find Truth to Defeat Doubt

This morning I prayed and plead with God to deliver me from my struggle with doubt.  Then I heard God say to my spirit,  “you have already won because I have already won. The enemy forms a weapon against you when he whispers a lie. Your weapon against the enemy’s lie is the truth. The truth is I who lives in you. The enemy has no power over you because the enemy has no power over Me.”

Everything God told me is referenced in scripture. Scripture provides the truth, no matter how much science and the world and the enemy, attempt to refute it. Even when reading it.

Isaiah [54:17]: “no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.”

1 Corinthians [15:57]: “But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Psalm 34:4: “I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”

What kind of doubt do you struggle with? No matter the doubt, take the opportunity presented each day to seek and live free in God’s truth!
